The Righteous & Wicked (A Good ‘Ole Boy… and the Rotten Scoundrel)
The Author of Ecclesiastes points out a very basic facet of life: it isn’t always fair! The righteous and those who make wise decisions do not always receive a reward in this life and sometimes the wicked prosper. Despite these seemingly unfair observations, it is still best to live righteously.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, one of the greatest burdens many fathers carry is the belief that they must have all the answers, make all the right decisions, and never fail. Solomon reminds us today that no father is righteous enough, wise enough, or strong enough to carry that burden. The good news of Ecclesiastes is that God never intended fathers to be perfect; He intended fathers to fear Him and depend upon Him.
