Dead Serious
Adversity and Prosperity are those seasons of life where we find ourselves on one end of the spectrum struggling to get along in our finances, relationships, energy & health, or walk with God. On the other end of the spectrum, life is smooth, finances are secure, health is good, relationships are stable and satisfying, and there is no material want.
What the author of Ecclesiastes seeks to convey in the start of his seventh chapter is the role of each in God’s plan. Participants can either use adversity and prosperity for good and greater devotion and delight in God or, oppositely, could negatively respond to either and find themselves not only further from God but on a dangerous path to a life lived with regret, remorse, emptiness, and futility.
