Paul reminds the church that they are only as close to God in fellowship as they are willing to forgive, love, and esteem the Christian that sins, repents, and seeks forgiveness.

There is a very fine line, one too often crossed, between confronting sin within a church and compassionately loving the sinner. God wants His Bride to be holy, yet we are still sinful beings.
