At Hallsville Baptist Church, we seek to orient our worship gatherings, our relationships, and our desires and conduct around the gospel of Jesus Christ.
What is the gospel? The gospel is the announcement that while every human being, without exception, has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, out of love for us, God sent His only son, Jesus, to experience the broken world, in the weakness of full humanity to be tempted like we are, to live a perfectly obedient life and die a sacrificial death on the cross. He did this to forgive our sins and make us right with God. Jesus then rose from the dead to conquer the death our sin deserves and secure for us eternal life reconciled to the Father through Him. This is good news because now, thanks to Jesus, we can be forgiven and free and assured of our resurrection to come when Christ comes a second time to completely establish His kingdom on earth.
The Apostle Paul summarizes the gospel and its importance this way: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:3-4).
And because the Good News is also true news, if you claim God’s forgiveness by simply believing Christ died for your sins and was raised from the dead three days later, you will be saved by God’s amazing grace.
Above is just a brief explanation of the gospel. If you would like to learn more about this good news and its implications for everyday life, please contact us.
