Oppression And Its Cure
There is oppression in almost every circle of society: in the workplace, in the civil and governmental aspect, in the family, in the school. The truth is, we live in a fallen and corrupt world filled with fallen and corrupt sinners.
The counter to oppression is God’s grace leading to a response of generosity paving the way for cultural and societal change. We think justice is the key, but justice is never guaranteed in this world. It is promised when Christ returns. In the meantime, there is a biblical and, therefore, very practical and proper cure to oppression and Nehemiah 5 reveals that to us.
In Christ and with the Gospel, there is great power to live above the corruption of this world and its practices. We can live as redeemed, restored, forgiven and cleansed people with no walls, no separation, no oppression, no injustices. It is possible because God’s grace is more than enough.
